Don't Delete AMP Just Yet!!
You have read the news; Google is removing AMP requirement for Top Stories eligibility starting May 2021. There is a heated discussion online where some SEOs can't wait to remove AMP while others are skeptical.
We have started tracking the % share of non-AMP stories in Top Stories in preparation of the move. So far our data at newzdash.com indicates that about 93-95% of all Top Stories are AMP URLs and +65% of Google Discover URLs are AMP. The numbers have been consistent for a while.

NYU Journalism Program - Mentorship by NewzDash
In 2020, two of our NYU SPI grads got the opportunity to continue their SEO studies with John, learning the ins and outs of what it means to be an SEO editor. We caught up with these SEO experts to hear about what they’ve learned and their new jobs at Hennessey Digital as junior on-site SEO editors.
We believe SEO is a must-have skill for all journalists. Our founder, John Shehata, has been presenting at NYU Journalism Institute for so many years training students on News SEO skills. In 2020, John worked with NYU Journalism Institute to select 2 student to mentor and train on SEO for 3 months, then feature their articles on the NewzDash. We are proud to present Hunter Hall to the SEO community and his first published SEO article, Enjoy!!!
Many News Publishers have been expressing their frustration on the delay of getting in Google News especially since Google News started including new sites automatically without a submission form.
Till recently Google didn't recognize there was an issue. Few days ago Google's John Mueller acknowledged in a video recorded on October 2, 2020 that the Google News team is backed up in accepting new sites into Google News.
